I wanted to share a few things that I have recently been drooling over. While they may not be relevant to one another, they are all individually delicious! And in the spirit of this weekends shopping splurges, I will share a great gift idea for the pretty girl on your list!

I wanted to wish a very special lady happy birthday today. Happy Birthday Mom!!!!! She always made all of my birthday’s so special. I remember my early birthdays at the rollerskating rink, then my tween years when she hosted gobs and gobs of my friends for slumber parties and my more recent birthdays enjoying a good meal at a favorite restaurant. No matter what we ended up doing my Mom always made my day so special. I hope the pizza party and multiple grandchildren helped make this year as special for you. It never fails that I end up raiding my mother’s closet whenever I visit. So in honor of my Mom and her great taste I’m going to share two of her current favorite things.

Currently Enjoying: Felicity
Thank you Netflix for finally getting the rights to Felicity! I have been having so much fun the past month re-watching the show. It has brought back such a strong feeling of nostalgia for my college days. I think I was going through college either at the exact same time or a year or two ahead of the show. It is almost like looking into a time capsule. We wore all the same clothes; the not really high waist but not low rise jeans, the chunky sweaters, the clunky shoes, the baby teas and of course the over-sized barn jackets…. what were we thinking! Watching Felicity start her freshmen year I remember so clearly the feelings of angst and uncertainty. I remember how worried I was about making friends freshmen year and then realizing how quickly you make friends that feel like they have been in your life forever. I also remember that first feeling of independence. Looking back at that time of my life makes me realize how protected we still were at that time, but how we would never have been able to admit that to ourselves.
I think the main observation I’ve had watching the show again after so many years has been, why is it that whenever Felicity and Ben talk they whisper? Is is actually possible for either of them to speak at a normal level to each other? Oh and in case anyone was wondering I was always pulling for Noel in the whole Ben-Noel-Felicity love triangle. I guess I’ve always had a soft spot for guys with dark hair. How about you? Were you a Ben or a Noel Fan?
Just for fun here are some of my favorite Keri Russel award show looks. I’ve always thought that she has one of the classiest styles in the celebrity world.

Hello Ladies. I don’t know about you, but I’ve spent most of my make-up wearing life searching for the perfect mascara that would make my less than luscious lashes fuller and longer. I was also hunting for a mascara that wouldn’t clump or melt throughout the day giving me that less than sexy hungry vampire look. I’ve probably used upwards of 20 different mascaras in my life, but I think I may have finally landed on a true winner and it doesn’t break the bank, Maybelline’s Volume Express Falsie’s Flared. This mascara was one of Allure’s Cheap Thrills 2011 Best of Beauty and was recently introduced to me by the woman who not only has the most amazing lashes I’ve ever seen, but she is also the woman who bought me my first mascara, thanks Mom! I’ve been loving this mascara so much that I thought I would share the experience, free of cost, with one of my readers. Allure’s Review: Best of Beauty Cheap Thrills
While doing research for this post I was chatting with a friend that loves make-up maybe more than most things in her life… that’s not fair… she also really loves her two kitties Peanut and Buttercup. I asked for her recommendation on mascara and she is a huge fan of Maybelline’s Colossal Volume Express. I was so excited to hear from someone who actually studies the art of make-up give a shout out to a drugstore brand. Her exact words were “It manages to separate every lash to create volume and avoid clumpage. It also covers the entire lash to give you the long lashes that you never knew you had”. Thanks for the advice Kate!
If you are one of those make-up lovers that enjoys the whole “department store swankier tube and brush experience” I also have recommendations for you. I reached out to a few of the fancy and fabulous ladies in my life and asked to see which lash enhancers they were currently wearing. I trust both of theses ladies when it comes to make-up, specifically mascara. They are always trying out something new and their make-up always looks great. Listed below are the top four slightly pricier but oh so pretty mascaras that are out there on the market today…. at least according to this blog.

Henry Sent A Thank You Note
As a proud Aunt I had to share the adorable thank you card that my littlest nephew Henry sent me for this “Welcome to the Family” gift. I obviously have to give my sister all the credit for finding the card since Hank can’t actually hold his head up yet, let alone a pen to write the card, but I like to think he participated at least a bit.
