Vera Wang Nailed It

January 25, 2012

I am going to start off by saying that I’m not typically a huge fan of ultra-modern design for residential homes, but when that design is done well it can be absolutely stunning and Vera Wang’s new LA home is just that, stunning.  Not to mention her slammin’ body in the poolside photo.  This woman is 62 years old!!!  I only wish that I will look that good in 30 years.  Go Vera!  I also have to note that her closet cracks me up… it’s amazing of course, a closet that every girl dreams of… but it’s filled with all black and muted tones!  I’m sure some of this had to do with the photo shoot, but I’m guessing a larger part had to do with her personal style.  My closet would be bursting with color and likely some ridiculous frills and ruffles if I had her shopping connections and budget.

  Adorable Men’s Shirts

January 22, 2012

Men’s fashion is not something I typical write about.  I like to leave that up to my friend over at The Significant Other, but I was strolling through J Crew the other day and I just fell in love with some of the brightly colored plaid button down shirts.  Obviously the majority of the clothing I was excited to see on my hubby, but I thought that these shirts, in an extra-small, worn unbutton as a layer over a tank and tissue tee with a pair of skinny jeans, heals or flats, and a great statement necklace would be an adorable late winter early spring look.

The always reliable skinny jeans from J Crew and Gap.  The added benefit is that they won’t break the bank.

Aforementioned Tissue Tee

I’m a big fan of the camisoles and tanks from Express, especially the ones with a built-in bra.

One idea for a great statement necklace, sweet and fun with a dash of color also from Diambond (yes, I’m still obsessing over the color pink)

  Pretty In Pink

January 19, 2012

I’m obviously feeling the soft pink vibe right now.  Maybe it’s that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner or that it’s so cold and snowy outside and pink has always made me feel warm and cozy.  Whatever the reason I was drawn in by the tassel leather earrings by Daimblond’s Etsy Shop.

I could see myself pairing these with this late spring outfit care of my online closet.  I did try to style a winter look but I just couldn’t bring myself to find a sweater or jacket to put on today.

Anthropologie Clipped Cities Blouse

J Crew Cafe Capri

Tieks Ballerina Pink Flat

(Yes, now that I’ve found them I’ll never let them go)

J Crew Classic Pave Link Bracelet

(You know I’m never fully fake internet dressed without this bracelet)

  For The Modern Girly Girl

January 18, 2012

I found some serious pretty tonight at while I was cruising around Etsy and landed on Silver Lining Decor.  The motto of the shop is “Vintage Jewelry: Revamped, Repurposed, and Reinvented! Nostalgic jewelry for the modern girly girl!”.  I love it!  Most times I’m not a serious girly girl, but at times there is nothing better than feeling feminine and sweet, especially when you’re rocking a sundress (I clearly have warm weather on the brain).  The shop has so many adorable pieces of jewelry, not just necklaces, so make sure to take a moment to pop over and do some day dreaming of your own!

PS.  For those of you that know me, don’t you think this first turquoise necklace would be perfect to add to my statement necklace collection?!?

  How Utterly Adorable

January 18, 2012

When looking for recommendations of something fabulous and super chic what I never do is click on any of the advertisements on the sides of my Facebook page.  Somehow I find the whole targeting advertising thing a bit creepy.  But I have to admit that they finally got me.  Just today I clicked on a link and I’ve fallen in love…. darn it!

What I clicked was an ad for a pair of ballet flats with the most ridiculously adorable souls… okay I know it’s a sole, but I swear these shoes are so cute I think they very well might have souls.  Luckily I realized that Oprah had already agreed, phew! I guess when Oprah says she’s found something that she loves we really should all listen.  I have to say that I am not an avid Oprah watcher, but I have taken advantage of her recommendations from time to time and I’ve always been happy and this time is no exception.  All hail Tieks- The Ballet Flat Reinvented.

Before you all start judging me please know that I’m aware that I’m likely beyond fashionably late to this shoe party but I am glad that I finally made it.  Here are a few of my favorites styles:

  The Classic Winter Jacket

January 12, 2012

Well, winter has officially started and the hubby and I have both realized that our city-living winter gear presents some gaping holes to the pseudo-country living that Maine is demanding of us.  He feels that he’s missing a good set of water-proof winter gloves for shoveling, and general snow maintenance, as well as an outer-layer that is waterproof.  I feel like I’m missing some legit thick socks to wear with my awesome new winter boots, and that same water-proof outer layer.

I’m having a tough time deciding between a more classic non-sporty jacket that I could wear not just for playing in and around the snow, or a classic ski jacket that I can wear for my new hobby cross country skiing.  Hmmmmm…. what do you guys think?

Classic (Barbour)….

Linley Jacket

Beaufront Jacket

….or Sporty

Patagonia Nano Storm Jacket

Marmot Hyper Jacket

I am seriously digging this bright red.

Kevin.Murphy Products: Color.Bug

Ever feel like you want a shot of color in your hair, but you don’t want to commit to the money and hours it takes to get your hair looking all sassy and ’80s… not to mention the scary commitment it would take?!?  Then look no further than Kevin.Murphy’s Color.Bugs.  They have an adorable name, super cute dispensers and they come in three fabu colors (orange, pink and purple).   I’m kinda digging this look for Spring… business on the roots and party on the ends.  Why not!

PS. If you’re in the Portland, ME area Envy Hair Salon on Congress Street has these little gems for sale.
