Happy Day After Valentine’s Day Everyone! I was one spoiled girl yesterday. My husband started the tradition of buying me beautiful flowers every Valentine’s Day and although I never expect the gift he always delivers the most beautiful arrangement or plant. This year I got an orchid. Fingers crossed I can treat it well and it will live a long and beautiful life (for those of you that don’t know I have the opposite of a green thumb).

I was also treated to the gorgeous necklace that has been gracing my “Currently Inspired By” spot for the last month, yippee!!!!  It is even prettier in person. Love, love, love.

If you love this necklace and think you might want one of your own or something by the same designer.  Here are a few more of my favorites of her designs:

  J Crew Bangles

Loving this image of bangles available at J Crew right now.  I literally want every last one of these.  Wearing them all together may be a bit much… but just a bit.  This styling inspired me to look for more lovely blue:

By this point all you lovely readers should be well aware of my obsession with JoJo Loves You. I currently own more pairs of Bling earrings than I should admit, three amazing statement necklaces and I’ve gifted tons of her jewels to my friends and family. Just this morning I woke up to an email from JoJo letting me know what her Valentine’s Day favorites are and offering up free shipping this weekend only. I’ve put together a list of my favorites for the holiday shoppers that are reading this post. For all you men reading this out there (because I can only imagine there are TONS of you) take note of all the pretty at your fingertips.

  Learning The Ropes

January 30, 2012

Let me start this post by saying “I Love Maine!” What a wonderful state Maine is, full of the beauty of the great outdoors, amazing cuisine, fabulous shopping and very, very talented artists.

One of these oh-so-talented artists is Shana Aldrich, the founder of the jewelry line The Ropes.  I first came across Shana’s designs in Portland’s Angela Adams showroom.  I was immediately drawn to the bracelets that were featured just next to the checkout counter…. they always know how to get you!  What made me initially pick up one of the bracelets is that they were substantial, not unlike a statement bracelet, and they were made from the most joyful colors.  I got into a long conversation with the loveliest shop girl and she told me that a local Mainer had done the design.  I quickly headed home, business card in hand, to look up Shana’s work.  After reading her bio I realized that her website does a much, much better job explaining who she is and what inspires her than I ever would be able to… so here’s a mini-bio all about Shana:

A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Shana followed her dream to become a designer and spent the beginning of her career as an apparel designer in New York City and Boston. After some time away, Shana realized her true passion was to return to Maine and pursue a design career in the surroundings that she was most influenced by.

Inspired by her frequent trips to the beach with her son Thomas and her love of the ocean, Shana founded The Ropes — a line of hand-made accessories constructed from marine ropes and hardware. Her innovative flare for mixing stylish trends with traditional materials from Maine’s marine culture has helped her develop The Ropes and brought her back to embrace the way of life that she loves.

I knew I wanted to do a blog post featuring her work and I was so inspired by her designs that I decided to have some fun and match up my favorite of her designs with the outfit I would ideally wear if I could style myself using my Internet Closet. Hopefully this will bring some Spring or Summer fun into this chilly winter day for you.

  Summer Weddings

January 25, 2012

So I have three summer weddings this year.  They all take place between Memorial Day and Labor Day (or maybe just a smidge after Labor Day, but the wedding’s in the Vineyard so I’m going to count it as a summer wedding).  I’ve been dreaming of warmer days while playing around in my endless internet closet.  What do you think of this as an outfit for one… or dare I say it multiple weddings?  And yes for those of you that know me I am fully aware that I am one of the palest people on the earth.  I would plan to spend some healthy time in the sun (with SPF) and then use a serious bronzer.

  Vera Wang Nailed It

January 25, 2012

I am going to start off by saying that I’m not typically a huge fan of ultra-modern design for residential homes, but when that design is done well it can be absolutely stunning and Vera Wang’s new LA home is just that, stunning.  Not to mention her slammin’ body in the poolside photo.  This woman is 62 years old!!!  I only wish that I will look that good in 30 years.  Go Vera!  I also have to note that her closet cracks me up… it’s amazing of course, a closet that every girl dreams of… but it’s filled with all black and muted tones!  I’m sure some of this had to do with the photo shoot, but I’m guessing a larger part had to do with her personal style.  My closet would be bursting with color and likely some ridiculous frills and ruffles if I had her shopping connections and budget.
