Feeling a bit… Stressed!!!

I could really use one of these prints to put right next to my bed so it’s the first thing I see when I wake up.

Are You Wearing Pants, I Am Now!

February 24, 2012

I’m sure by this point we’ve all seen this flow chart by Amy Sly, “Am I Wearing Pants” I think I’ve even posted on this before.

In the past I have fallen prey to the cheap leggings that can be found on the tweens sale rack at my local TJ Max or H&M. I have been that girl that at times has shown off a bit too much when bending over to grab something.  But I wanted to let you know that I am finally wearing pants! Real honest to goodness pants that don’t show off any more than I want to.  They are the Wunder Under Pant from lululemon.  I have the most amazing job that I get to wear elastic waisted pants to work every day now… well who am I kidding I basically lived in leggins and stretchy jeans before now.  I have been amazed at the comfort and the lack of see-through-ness of these pants.  If you’re looking for just the right legging for your day out on the town and you’re also looking for an amazingly technical yoga pant that are chafe-resistant and tight fitting to show off your alignment during class than you are in luck!

  The Perfect Brunch Drink

February 19, 2012

I have been having serious cravings the last few weeks for a really good Bloody Mary.  I have always been a fan of this drink, even when I was little and ordered the virgin version.  I love anything spicy and I’ve always been a sucker for celery, weird I know.  Hands down the best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had was at a hotel in South Lake Tahoe.  I only wish I could remember the name of the restaurant!  I also loved the Bloody Mary Bar that 75 Chestnut in Beacon Hill would host every Sunday.  It was exciting folks, you could mix your own drink.

Now that I live far away from 75 Chestnut and South Lake Tahoe I am looking for a go to recipe that I can whip up at home to sip on a lazy Sunday or when I host guests for brunch.  Here is a recipe by Tyler Florence that was extremely well rated.  Does anyone else have a good recipe they could share with me???

Combine the lime juice, celery seed, and horseradish in a pitcher. Muddle the mixture with the end of a wooden spoon to blend and break up the celery seeds. Pour in the tomato juice, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce; season with salt and pepper. Stir everything together to combine.

Divide the vodka among 6 tall, chilled glasses filled with ice. Fill the glasses with the bloody mary mix, stick in the celery and cucumber and garnish with the cilantro. Give the bloody mary a good stir and serve.

  Fill In The Cat

February 19, 2012

There is definitely a neat story behind this functional art that I will include below.  I just thought they were adorable!  I’m sure I could find a great spot for these and I know Charlie would love them.

Artists: Ricardo Casas, Héctor Esrawe, Emiliano Godoy, Cecilia León de la Barra, Óscar Núñez

Three characters disappear from large, solid white blocks, and their absence suddenly makes them important. The resulting emptiness is filled with the user’s belongings and through this action the silhouettes’ meaning shifts. The pieces suggest a continuous play between interaction and representation, where daily use generates a continuously changing story: a cat that reads Italo Calvino, a book filled with coins, a living room where birds come to eat the cake’s crumbles…

Happy Day After Valentine’s Day Everyone! I was one spoiled girl yesterday. My husband started the tradition of buying me beautiful flowers every Valentine’s Day and although I never expect the gift he always delivers the most beautiful arrangement or plant. This year I got an orchid. Fingers crossed I can treat it well and it will live a long and beautiful life (for those of you that don’t know I have the opposite of a green thumb).

I was also treated to the gorgeous necklace that has been gracing my “Currently Inspired By” spot for the last month, yippee!!!!  It is even prettier in person. Love, love, love.

If you love this necklace and think you might want one of your own or something by the same designer.  Here are a few more of my favorites of her designs:
