When I graduated college I thought I had left behind my days of highlighters. Although I continue to be a prolific reader I no longer feel the need to mark parts of my books to return to later for further study. What has surprised me is my intense highlighter needs in my professional life as an Interior Designer. I am constantly working on construction documents and furniture specifications and the tried and true method to work on changes is red lines. Someone red lines your documents and you work through those marks highlighting them along the way to keep track of what you’ve inputted. As a way to keep things interesting I picked up a set of Jonathan Adler’s Multi-Colored Highlighters from Paper Source this weekend. I can’t wait to put them to good use.
I’m heading to Woodward’s for dinner tomorrow night at the Ames Hotel. I have yet to explore this new addition to the Boston hotel scene. The photos I’ve been able to find have me very excited and the menu looks scrumptious. If nothing else I have to hunt down the manufacturer for the spectacular light fixture/object d’art in the lobby.
Update: Dinner was delicious. Make sure to be careful when ordering since the portions are family style and absolutely HUGE! I didn’t walk out of Woodward’s, I waddled. What I thought was a light fixture from the picture above was actually a metallic sculpture that was light from below with spot lights. It was even more stunning in person. My favorite feature of the entire space was the subtle use of the Armourcoat Spatulata product used in the lobby area by check in. It added a very subtle texture and sheen to the otherwise white space.
Meet my new ring! I had the pleasure of participating in a girl’s night out yesterday that started at Shecky’s and ended with a delicious dinner at Aquitaine complete with Pommes Frites served with a basil garlic aioli and mussels. I have a strong suspicion that they might lace the aioli with something that keeps bringing me back there, yum yum! Shecky’s has always been a hit or miss event for me. At times I’ll leave not seeing a thing I would wear and other times my wallet is smoking from all the fabulous items I can’t leave without. I had the misfortune of being robbed two years ago and the robbers made off with pretty much every piece of jewelry I had collected over my 30 years. I’ve moved past the heartache and the feelings of violation, but my jewelry box has not made a complete recovery yet. Last night I added a few fun costume items and some basics. My favorite find of the evening was my new frog ring from Lucid New York. Thank you to my unbelievably generous friend who treated me to this gem as a belated birthday present. I think to stay with the theme of the ring she was my Shecky’s fairy god mother. Thanks Ains!
I felt the need for a little Mad Men pick me up. I thought you might too! Nothing fancy, no thoughts on clothing, jewelry, or interiors, just a few photos of my favoirte cast members.
Some days you’re just feeling blue and you need a little pick me up. I don’t think that every time this happens you need to rush out and spend money to make yourself feel better… that is not a good habit to get into, it’s dangerous for your wallet and you can be perceived as a wee bit shallow. Having said that, sometimes you just need something pretty for whatever reason. Here are two things that I visit and stare at longingly when I’m a bit blue. They are both from my favorite designer Jonathan Adler.
