Inspired: West Elm Boxes

August 31, 2010

Meet my newest inspired image the West Elm Wood Boxes with Lacquered Lids.  These boxes are a great combination of my two loves- lacquer and storage containers.  I have been in a bit of a lacquered phase the past year.  There is just something so appealing about sheen of lacquered furniture and accessories and I’m always a fan anything that will help me organize my home or office. The boxes come with either a red or a white lid.  In my professional opinion I think the white version will be more lasting and will match with most every design scheme you currently have going on, but the red offers a really playful pop of color.  It will come as no surprise to anyone that knows me…but I’m in love with the white version.  I’ll keep you posted if one of these makes it ways into my home.

  The Office Stylist Feature

August 24, 2010

I’m very proud to say that one of the projects I worked on, in my life as a Designer at TRO Jung Brannen, was featured on The Office Stylist.  I’m a huge fan and avid reader of The Office Stylist and I was thrilled that she wanted to feature our headquarters.  The project turned out beautifully and it was such a treat to be a part of the team that created the new offices that I get to work in every day.  So head on over and take a look at the article.

  Schumacher and Studio Bon

August 20, 2010

I just received an adorable mailer from Schumacher introducing the newest offerings from Studio Bon and I had to share.  The fabrics are delightful and their styling and photography really caught my eye, simple but still effective in highlighting the fabric.  Plus, I couldn’t help but give a shout out to Schumacher since they were my very first job in the design industry.  I worked as an intern in their Atlanta showroom at ADAC. Enjoy!

  Nature’s Interior Designers

August 17, 2010

Earlier this year I got sucked into the TV series Life presented by The Discovery Channel.  My favorite episode was the one about birds, mainly because it featured the Bowerbird.  He works so hard to create a beautiful space to entice his sweetheart.  He can spend weeks upon weeks cleaning, sprucing and arranging his furniture, just like any good designer!  Then he hides and watches his female counterpart peruse his hard work in the hopes she’ll choose him.  I felt such a connection to these little guys and all their hard work building a beautiful home.  They truly are nature’s very own interior designers!

  Time for Art

August 16, 2010

The desire to create art is something that sneaks up on me.  Some people might say that as a designer I’m using my creative skills for work and therefore I’m creating art on a daily basis.  I do not agree.   For me the artist process is a much more personal endeavor.

The past few months I’ve started to sense a need to create something fresh and completely separate from the world of Interior Design. It has officially been seven years since I last created a piece of art.  Today I’m taking my first step.  It’s too soon to share exactly what I’m putting together but here are a few images to peak your interest.
