Something’s Gotta Give

July 16, 2010

I’m heading to the beach for a week with my family tonight.  In honor of my trip I thought I would share some images from one of my favorite beach houses of all time, The Something’s Gotta Give house.  You can ask almost any designer who has watched this movie and they will tell you that loved the interior design of this house.  The layering of the neutral tones of paint that play off the subtle shades of blues and greens along with the blending of transitional and traditional furniture catches most everyone’s eye… and what I wouldn’t do to have those stunning wood floors.  Well done.

Thanks to Hooked on Houses for the images.

I’ve seen this movie a few times and I’ve decided that I’m pretty sure the house/setting makes the movie. I’ve searched long and hard for the artist who has a few paintings in the house (you can see one of the paintings in pics 2 & 3), but alas, no luck. Maybe I’m not searching hard enough.

What company sells the blue & white stripped rug in the living room of the Something’s Gotta Give house?

Thanks for the comment Judi. Check out this website http://bit.ly/i1WElO for an article on the rug. Interestingly it was actually a larger rug that was cut down and remade to fit the room. The article provides a source for a company that carries similar rugs. Pottery Barn is currently carrying a similar indoor/outdoor rug http://bit.ly/fDkWgb. Happy Rug Hunting.
