I just received my copy of Knoll: A Modernist Universe by Brian Lutz. I can not wait to spend some time with this new addition to my design library. And just my luck I have been invited to a presentation by Brian Lutz of his new book at the Knoll Showroom in Boston in June so soon my new book will be signed by the author. What fun.
A small gem of perfection was recently featured in Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles. It is the home of Barbara Westbrook, of Westbrook Interiors. With the abundance of light it isn’t hard to imagine curling up on the plush sofa with any one of the numerous books that are stacked around her home, although it might be challenging to concentrate with so many intriuging pieces of furniture and art surrounding you. A true dream home put together by an extremely talented designer.

About two months ago I had the overwhelming pleasure of taking my first trip to Ikea. My oh my I have never been so visually over-stimulated in my life, but I had a blast. I also had a very specific goal in mind which I think saved me from a panic attack and even more tired feet then I ended up with.
The lesson I’ve learned and the advice that came from that lesson is to always do your research before arriving at Ikea and have a very specific list of goods in mind. It can’t hurt to wander from the path a bit if something catches your eye… but don’t stray too far or you may end up glassy eyed and limping out the exit!
Here’s what we ended up with… a wall of bookshelves, storage containers and a new desk. The beginnings of a wonderful office nook… art, accessories and many more design books in the works.
Adorable. If you have to show your cords might as well make them cute. Thanks to Office Stylist for finding this gem.
Alright all my Atlanta readers you need to head over to Polished Beauty Land and tell me if it is as pretty as it appears in these pictures. I’m loving the use of Philippe Stark’s Mademoiselle chairs for the manicure guest chairs (available at Kartell).
I’m a big fan of framing maps and hanging them as art. As a wedding present to my husband I selected a map from the early 20th Century of the neighborhood where we lived and got engaged. It will now hang in every apartment we live. It brings me so much joy every day.
When I came across this image in the blog 79 Ideas it only strengthen my love of map art. Enjoy!
This picture made me feel happy. Happy Mother’s Day.
